Reena & Stench

The next chapter in the book Unleashed introduces a pair of interesting characters to the mix. We have Reena, a young girl who's also an orphan, plus her best friend and secret companion Stench the gremlin. Now if you've read any of my fantasy adventure novels set my fantasy world of EL then you already know I like my gremlins! Reena is a different type of hero. She's very young, pre-teen, and she's got a different motivation. She's all alone in the world and seeking a life. Though she may come off initially as an innocent child, she's anything but. A hard knock life has taught her plenty. She uses her appearance to her advantage, but this is a tough kid that's wise beyond her years. And though she was raised by a con and left behind as an orphan after he abandoned her, Reena also has a good heart. Her entire motivation for being here was just an attempt to get to a better station with some sort of goal in life. Helping just comes naturally after everything unfolds around her. Reena represents that child in us all seeking approval and acceptance.

On the other end of the spectrum is Stench. The cute, gassy little gremlin is the hope and innocence of the group. He's kind and helpful despite his tiny stature and mistreatment in the world. Food and friendship are all he seeks. Though he seems like a helpless little extra, Stench is often a life saver when the need arises. He is also often playing the role of comic relief. Both of these characters are basically little thieves that can sneak their way into your heart.
